Epson W-01 error code
Waste ink pads full
Epson W-01 means that the waste ink pads, the absorbers that collect ink from printhead cleaning, have reached their capacity. The printer stops or prepares to stop to prevent an overflow.
What does this error mean?
Every printhead cleaning cycle releases ink into the internal pads, and the printer tracks how full they are. Replacing the pads and resetting the counter are service tasks. Ink pad messages also appear in the same way on EcoTank/L-series printers.
What can you safely try?
- 01Reduce manual printhead cleaning while the printer is still usable: every cleaning cycle fills the pads further.
When should you call a technician?
Call a technician: replacing the pads and resetting the counter requires a qualified technician. On an older printer, consider whether the repair is economical.
Do you rent out or manage printers?
If you manage the printer at a customer’s site, you can record the fault on site in PrinterMS using QR issue reporting, and any parts used are automatically added to its service history. See printer fleet management.
