Ricoh SC544 error code

Fuser overheating (detected by software)

Ricoh SC544 usually indicates fuser overheating detected by software, often due to a faulty thermistor or fuser circuit. Like SC543, this code causes a safety shutdown.

What does this error mean?

The fuser temperature is monitored at several levels. SC544 indicates that the software’s upper limit has been exceeded, typically due to a problem with the fuser assembly.

What can you safely try?

  1. 01Switch the printer off at the main power switch, wait at least 10 minutes for the fuser to cool down, then switch it back on. Many error codes are temporary and disappear after a full power cycle.

When should you call a technician?

If the code still appears after switching the printer off and on, call a technician. The fuser assembly must be checked by a qualified technician.

Do you rent out or manage printers?

If you manage the printer at a customer’s site, you can record the fault on site in PrinterMS using QR issue reporting, and any parts used are automatically added to its service history. See printer fleet management.
