Canon E010 error code
Main motor fault
Canon E010 usually indicates a main motor rotation fault: the motor does not start, or its speed feedback is invalid. This code stops the printer.
What does this error mean?
The main motor drives the paper path and imaging assemblies. Besides the motor itself, a jammed component or an incorrectly installed supply can also cause the fault.
What can you safely try?
- 01Open the doors and check that the toner cartridge and drum unit are properly seated and that no paper is jammed.
- 02Switch the printer off at the main power switch, wait a few minutes, then switch it back on. Some temporary faults clear this way.
When should you call a technician?
If the code returns, call a technician: checking the motor and drive train is a job for a qualified technician.
Do you rent out or manage printers?
If you manage the printer at a customer’s site, you can record the fault on site in PrinterMS using QR issue reporting, and any parts used are automatically added to its service history. See printer fleet management.
