Canon E100 error code
Laser unit (BD signal) fault
Canon E100 usually indicates a fault in the laser imaging unit: the laser beam synchronisation signal (BD signal) does not arrive in time. This code stops the printer.
What does this error mean?
The laser unit uses a fast-spinning mirror to sweep the beam, and the BD signal provides the timing. If the signal is missing, the printer cannot write an image, so it stops.
What can you safely try?
- 01Switch the printer off at the main power switch, wait a few minutes, then switch it back on. Some temporary faults clear this way.
When should you call a technician?
If the code still appears after restarting, call a technician: the laser unit needs to be examined or replaced.
Do you rent out or manage printers?
If you manage the printer at a customer’s site, you can record the fault on site in PrinterMS using QR issue reporting, and any parts used are automatically added to its service history. See printer fleet management.
