Canon E805 error code

Fan fault

Canon E805 usually indicates a cooling fan fault: the fan is not spinning, or its feedback is invalid. The printer stops to prevent overheating.

What does this error mean?

Besides the fan itself, blocked air intakes, for example from dust or a filter, can also cause the fault. It is worth checking that the printer’s vents are clear.

What can you safely try?

  1. 01Check that the printer’s vents are not covered or blocked and that there is room around the printer for air to circulate.
  2. 02Switch the printer off at the main power switch, wait a few minutes, then switch it back on. Some temporary faults clear this way.

When should you call a technician?

If the code returns, call a technician: the fan may need replacing.

Do you rent out or manage printers?

If you manage the printer at a customer’s site, you can record the fault on site in PrinterMS using QR issue reporting, and any parts used are automatically added to its service history. See printer fleet management.
