Ricoh SC672 error code

Controller and engine communication fault at startup

Ricoh SC672 usually means that communication between the controller and print engine failed to start or was interrupted during startup. The controller board, wiring or software may be responsible.

What does this error mean?

The controller and print engine communicate when the printer starts. If this fails, SC672 appears. The fault is sometimes temporary and can be resolved by fully switching the printer off and on.

What can you safely try?

  1. 01Switch the printer off at the main power switch, wait at least 10 minutes for the fuser to cool down, then switch it back on. Many error codes are temporary and disappear after a full power cycle.
  2. 02Make sure the printer has fully shut down, rather than merely entered standby, before switching it back on.

When should you call a technician?

If the code remains after switching the printer off and on, call a technician: the controller board or wiring needs to be checked.

Do you rent out or manage printers?

If you manage the printer at a customer’s site, you can record the fault on site in PrinterMS using QR issue reporting, and any parts used are automatically added to its service history. See printer fleet management.
