Ricoh SC819 error code

Controller or system (kernel) fault

Ricoh SC819 usually indicates a system-level (kernel) fault in the controller: the main control software stopped unexpectedly or encountered an error. Software, memory or the controller board may be responsible.

What does this error mean?

Codes SC816-SC820 cover system-level controller faults. Some are temporary software faults that can be resolved by fully switching the printer off and on; others are hardware faults.

What can you safely try?

  1. 01Switch the printer off at the main power switch, wait at least 10 minutes for the fuser to cool down, then switch it back on. Many error codes are temporary and disappear after a full power cycle.

When should you call a technician?

If the code recurs, call a technician: the controller firmware or hardware needs to be examined.

Do you rent out or manage printers?

If you manage the printer at a customer’s site, you can record the fault on site in PrinterMS using QR issue reporting, and any parts used are automatically added to its service history. See printer fleet management.
