Scanner carriage position fault
Kyocera C3100 usually means that the scanner carriage cannot find its home position: its movement is obstructed, or the sensor does not report its position.
What does this error mean?
The fault may be caused by an obstruction in the carriage’s path, dirt or a faulty sensor. It is worth cleaning the scanner glass and narrow glass strip first, then restarting the printer.
What can you safely try?
- 01Wipe the scanner glass and the narrow glass strip on the left with a soft, lint-free cloth.
- 02Switch the printer off at the main power switch, wait at least 10 minutes for the fuser to cool down, then switch it back on. Many error codes are temporary and disappear after a full power cycle.

If the code returns after cleaning and restarting, call a technician.
