Kyocera C7990 error code
Waste toner container fault
Kyocera C7990 usually indicates a full waste toner container or a detection fault: the printer sees the container as full, or the sensor signal is invalid.
What does this error mean?
Used toner collects in a separate container. When it fills up, the printer stops to prevent toner from spilling inside. The code can be triggered by a full container, but also by a container that is not seated properly or a faulty sensor.
What can you safely try?
- 01If your printer has a user-replaceable waste toner container, check whether it is full and replace it if necessary.
- 02Remove and reinsert the container to make sure it is properly seated.
- 03Switch the printer off at the main power switch, wait at least 10 minutes for the fuser to cool down, then switch it back on. Many error codes are temporary and disappear after a full power cycle.
When should you call a technician?
If the code remains after replacement and restarting, call a technician: the sensor or control system needs to be checked.
Do you rent out or manage printers?
If you manage the printer at a customer’s site, you can record the fault on site in PrinterMS using QR issue reporting, and any parts used are automatically added to its service history. See printer fleet management.
