Kyocera C6400 error code

Zero-crossing signal fault (power supply)

Kyocera C6400 usually indicates a fault in the mains zero-crossing signal, which the printer uses to control fuser heating. It is often related to the quality of the power supply or to the power supply unit.

What does this error mean?

The printer switches the heating lamp in time with the mains voltage. If this signal is missing or invalid, the heating cannot be controlled safely. An unstable mains supply, an uninterruptible power supply or a power strip can also trigger the fault.

What can you safely try?

  1. 01Switch the printer off at the main power switch, wait at least 10 minutes for the fuser to cool down, then switch it back on. Many error codes are temporary and disappear after a full power cycle.
  2. 02Try plugging the printer directly into a wall socket, without an uninterruptible power supply, extension lead or power strip.

When should you call a technician?

If the fault returns even when the printer is connected directly to a wall socket, call a technician: the power supply unit or heating control needs to be checked.

Do you rent out or manage printers?

If you manage the printer at a customer’s site, you can record the fault on site in PrinterMS using QR issue reporting, and any parts used are automatically added to its service history. See printer fleet management.
